You may have seen me on the trails, maybe the parades or as a Ring Steward in the “Run What you Brung” games.

I’ve been an active member of the club since 2001, volunteered at the Diabetes Ride for many years before that.

My interests are trail riding, North River Riders Drill Team, photography, fencing (sword) and re-enactments surrounding the “War of 1812”

The club has many branches of discipline and the parades and special events bring all of this with a sense of sportsmanship to the community.

I’m always open to new ideas. If you have a clinic that you wish to host, or even just to let us know that somebody is hosting one elsewhere, let us know. We’ll spread the word so others can attend.

Membership - Gail Stover

Gail Stover has been a member of the club for seven years. She has enjoyed the past 2 years as club president. She has shown her horses in a variety of classes and she enjoys the friendly and competitive atmosphere of the shows. Gail remarks what a wonderful group of members the club has. "There is such a wealth of experience, knowledge and enthusiasm".

Gail is taking care of the membership, promotion and newsletter for the club. You will see her competing for the Red Ribbons this year!

Show Committee Chair - Faye Rose

I am looking forward to meeting ya'll throughout the year at the many events the club is hosting.

My passion has always been and will always be, all things equine. I can't remember a time in my life that didn't include horses. From those fun filled, care free days of my youth (yes, I know that's a looooong time ago) riding anything that had 4 legs, a tail and a place to put a saddle (or not), to the present when just the smell of well oiled leather brings back all the memories. I've been bit, stomped, kicked, run over and bucked off and I just keep coming back for more.

Since 1977 I have been involved with grass roots clubs (CTR, GBRC and CHAPS) the WHAO and Breed clubs (AQHA, APHA, ApHCA and ApHCC). From trail rides, parades, rides for specific causes, showing, training, and coaching, in disciplines of English, Western and driving, it was all about horses.

Since 2000, when Robin MacPherson put together shows for NRR, I have had a connection with the club and am pleased to be working with the horse show committee again this season.

I hope you will all try to come out and support the club in any way possible.

May your life be filled with peace, joy, happiness and love, as we ride on into the new year together.

Trail Ride Committee Chair - Barb Clare-Powell

Barb Clare-Powell has been with the North River Riders since its beginnings when it transpired from the ashes of Chaps. She has held the positions of Secretary and Special Events Coordinator, as well as assisted with many events and programs for the club. She enjoys all disciplines within the horse industry and loves to learn new things all the time. Her true passions lie on the trails where she can meet new people and chat it up, or go quietly alone for the solitude.

Barb promotes the once endangered species - the Canadian Horse, otherwise known as the Little Iron Horse, our National Breed of Canada. Barb was the founder of the Diabetes Ride A Thon which has raised over $100,000 in its 20 plus years running. She is currently the trail riding coordinator and is an active member of the North River Riders Drill Team.
